Veolia and Haringey Council are working with local schools and community groups to promote Keep Britain Tidy’s Clean for the Queen campaign, which is encouraging people to help clear up the country in time for Her Majesty’s 90th birthday.
One of the many clean-up events taking place across the borough is involving pupils from Noel Park Primary School, who will be tackling a local grot-spot before litterpicking around Russell Park. Students from Heartlands High School will also be taking part, with an organised litterpick of Wood Green Common. On Saturday 5th March events include a clear-up of the Harold Road Community Garden in Hornsey.
Veolia’s Senior Contract Manager in Haringey, Paul Peters, said: “We support the Clean for the Queen initiative and see this as an ideal opportunity to highlight the problem of litter on our streets and in our parks. We want to emphasise the fact that dropping litter is not a socially acceptable practice and that everyone can do their bit to ensure streets, parks and other public spaces are clean and safe for people of all ages to enjoy.”
