Learning Centre's Second Success

The Veolia/Unite Learning Centre in Haringey is once again an award winner!

The Centre has been awarded a Quality Award at the Unionlearn annual conference, an event which focuses on skills development through learning of individuals and communities, meeting the needs of a modern workforce, and the vital role of skills in a sustainable economic recovery and that learning matters.

The Unionlearn Quality Award is given for courses, programmes and advice services that meet good practice criteria and that help signpost union learning reps (ULRs) and learners to companies that are working successfully and flexibly with unions. The Award also celebrates the commitment and diligence of ULRs across the country who promote training and learning in the workplace on behalf of union members.

The Quality Award remains a standard by which the quality of provision for union learners can be judged and continues to be a valued and sought after accolade.

The award is given to companies whose learning programmes and courses meet good practice criteria, including working successfully and flexibly with unions. It means that Veolia achieves the required standard and has shown that the courses and additional support, advice and guidance are accessible to work-focused and work-based learners, including those who work shifts and that learners have access to nationally recognised accreditation, and achieve success comparable to national benchmarks.

Paul Peters, Senior Contract Manager for Veolia Haringey, stated:  “I am so pleased that all the efforts of those involved are recognised. Winning the award is a real thrill and a very special honour and a testament to the commitment of the ULRs, Unite, the Management and Learners on the contract.”
