Chapter 1

Once upon a time, in a Reuse and Recycling Centre far, far away Julie was thinking about how to promote Compost Awareness Week. It came to her in a dream… then an icon, Compost Colin, was born!

He took on a life of his own! In Compost Awareness Week his popularity soared and Colin soon became the talk of the site. Julie was his best friend, they went everywhere together.

Chapter 2

As time went on Julie began to think of Colin in a different way, he wasn’t as tall as she’d like but with those big blue eyes and beaming smile who could resist.

They often ate together and Julie had heard it said that the way to a man’s heart was through his stomach, but with Colin things were a little more complicated.

Chapter 3

The relationship blossomed; they spent their weekends taking long country walks and watching esoteric films at the cinema.

Julie thought ‘THIS COULD BE  IT! ’, Colin’s not a big talker so it’s difficult to know what he is thinking but he listens to everything I say and that means something.

 Chapter 4

This was the BIG ONE, Julie was taking Colin back to her flat for the first time, she’d planned the perfect evening, champagne, music, dinner on the balcony and later…

What she hadn’t considered was getting Colin home, but with a little love and understanding the problem was solved.

 Chapter 5

Julie couldn’t understand it; everything had seemed to be going so well when suddenly Colin said he felt tired and left. For the two days since he had been avoiding her but eventually she caught up with him. She was upset and demanded to know what was going on, Colin said it could never work between them, Julie just didn’t have what he needed. He had found someone else!

Distraught, Julie cried, what does  this new woman have that I don’t? As Colin turned to walk out of her life forever, he whispered reverently, an allotment.
