Toby Terlet, General Manager for Veolia in Birmingham said, “Residents may already know that they can recycle garden waste, wood and metal at Birmingham’s Household Recycling Centres, but the recycling centres also accept a wide range of household items for recycling, including textiles, batteries, light bulbs and small electrical items such as toasters, kettles and computer equipment. By collecting more items and bringing them to the nearest recycling centre, together we can recycle more of Birmingham’s waste. ”

Tips on how to make your Household Recycling Centre visit as easy as possible:

  • Sort your waste into different types before you set off - your visit will be quicker, and more will be recycled.
  • Plan your journey - The sites can become very busy during weekends, so if possible, visit outside these times, or view the queue via the recycling centre webcams on the Veolia website before you travel.
  • If you’re not sure where to put something, ask a member of staff who will be happy to help you.
  • Please don’t use your mobile phone on site.
  • Wear sensible footwear when visiting.
  • Children and animals must stay in your vehicle at all times, for their safety.
