We interviewed 136 energy managers and 720 senior decision-makers, working in both the public and private sectors. Our research spans the retail, commercial building, local authority, leisure and education sectors.
Our research found that:
- Rhetoric does not match the action: senior executives’ commitment to energy efficiency is skin-deep and the easy options are taken rather than a long-term strategy being put into place.
- Many businesses are not exploiting available energy efficiency options, and missing out on potential savings.
- Improving the energy efficiency of buildings provides a quick ROI in the form of energy cost savings.
