Two years of comprehensive training
Our two-year programme is a mix of on-the-job and off-the-job training. You will have a wealth of opportunities to familiarise yourself with our business; water, waste and energy. You will also be supported through a series of Leadership and Management development modules. Complete our training, and you’ll become one of the environmental professionals that will make our business a success in the future.
Our Graduate Development Programme is made up of two streams. Graduate roles within these streams are advertised according to business need so will vary in focus and location each year. Full details of roles will be contained within their adverts but you can get an idea of the types of roles in each stream below:
Our Role Specific stream can offer you a wide-range of opportunities. To join this stream you will need a minimum 2:1 in the degree discipline required for the role you are applying for. This will be identified in the role advert.
You will be placed in a single 2-year placement where you will gain the experience and development to enable you to fill this role on completion of the programme.
As a graduate on the Role Specific stream you could find yourself working at one of our wastewater facilities, working alongside our hazardous waste team, or at one of our depots dealing face-to-face with our customers.
You may also find yourself working within one of our London contracts, learning project management skills and speaking regularly with our customers. Or working within our Commercial Business Development team understanding the full sales life cycle from the Green Team through to Customer Services.
There are many opportunities within this stream and the career routes are endless.

Our Future Business Leaders stream can offer you the opportunity to gain valuable exposure across the business. To join this stream you will need a minimum 2:1 in any degree discipline. We are particularly looking for people who would be comfortable working in an operational, sales or project management environment.
Graduates on this stream will be completing rotational placements (specified on role advert). You must therefore be willing to relocate around the UK after the first year on programme and have a full UK driving licence.
You will be developing the knowledge and skills to become future leaders of our business and so you could find yourself working at one of our depots dealing face-to-face with our customers. Or you could be working alongside the Transport Manager, managing one of our many fleet operations.
You may also find yourself working within one of our municipal contracts, learning project management skills and speaking regularly with our customers or alternatively working on an Industrial site learning skills to become a future contract manager.
Ultimately the graduates that join this stream will have aspirations to be a Contract, Business or Operational Manager within Veolia.
During your placement(s) you will be achieving set goals and gaining valuable exposure across the company. The location of your placement(s) will be stated on the job advertisement for the opportunity of interest to you. For our rotational opportunities, you’ll need to be willing to relocate. To help you throughout the programme, your Line Manager and the Early Careers Specialist will be on hand. We’ll also allocate you a mentor to offer you impartial advice and guidance along with a buddy who is someone who is already on the programme.
