Primary school children and local councillor clear litter from local Haringey park

In one of several clean-up events organised in the borough this past week as part of the Great British Spring Clean, Ward Councillor for St Ann’s, Cllr Barbara Blake, and children from St John Vianney RC Primary School targeted an area near the school that is often blighted with litter problems.

The clean-up took place in the park area and children’s playground located between the School and West Green Road. The volunteers were equipped with litterpickers, refuse & recycling sacks, gloves and adults and children's hi-viz vests, all donated by Haringey Council’s recycling and waste management contractor Veolia, who also collected all the filled bags.

Cllr Blake, pictured here with pupils Feargal, Kyan and Kaetleen, said: “I am passionate about St Ann’s Ward and it looking clean and rubbish-free. This is the third clean-up we’ve had from St John Vianney School, who always enthusiastically support efforts to keep this space the best it can be.”
