Mayor visits Recycling Fund for Communities project

Mayor of London visits Recycling Fund for Communities project

One of the projects we supported through our Recycling Fund for Communities received a visit from the Mayor of London on Monday 4th February 2019, as he launched #CrowdfundLondon 2019.

Located adjacent to our Haringey Facility, Tottenham's Cafe Connect turned a disused bowling club into a thriving community hub, with members of our Haringey team also volunteering their time to help clear the land and bring the project to life.

Thanks to local backing - including from Veolia - the project is now able to build a new outdoor area, so that more of the community can be welcomed into a safe space, learning about the environment and encouraging social inclusion.

“With Veolia's support we bring together and reunite communities to think globally and act locally, creating a cleaner environment for tomorrow” - Leyla Laksari, Cafe Connect, Tottenham
