The site is located to the south-east of Heysham, just off Imperial Road to the north of Middleton Business Park and adjacent to Lancashire County Council’s Waste Transfer Station. It has good access to the M6 via the newly completed link road, providing north-south access to the wider North West region and various towns across Lancashire and beyond.
The site forms part of the Heysham Gateway regeneration area and sits within the larger Lancaster West Business Park. Most of the Business Park is vacant or underdeveloped, and this site forms part of a wider area identified for industrial development.
Heysham Gateway is a regeneration priority for Lancaster and our proposals would add significant investment into the area. The completion of the Heysham Link Road (also known as the Bay Gateway), one of Lancashire’s top transport projects in the last decade, is expected to act as a catalyst for economic investment locally. We are confident that our plans will complement this infrastructure, with our proposals creating an estimated £200 million of investment, and new jobs, once completed.
As part of our proposals, heat will also be available for the future industrial users, which could make the business park more attractive to manufacturers looking to relocate.
