Happy International Women's Day 2022!

Happy International Women's Day 2022!

Meet some of Veolia UK's inspirational women, and find out how they're working hard to #BreakTheBias, on International Women's Day and beyond.

Meet Heather.

Heather is the Sector Lead for Healthcare, Education & Public Sector at Veolia UK; as well as being a Chartered Engineer, a STEM ambassador to promote engineering to school children, and a mentor supporting other engineers to become chartered.

Since joining Veolia in January 2018, Heather has helped to #BreakTheBias every day by leading decarbonisation projects, often as the only female in the team.

Meet Marian.

Marian joined Veolia over 20 years ago, working her way up to the position of Technical Director for the Water side of the business.

In her position as both a manager and a technical expert, she continues to #BreakTheBias, by supporting parity, equality, diversity and inclusivity within her team today, to help build a more sustainable tomorrow.

Meet Adele.

Adele joined Veolia three years ago as a People Development Specialist, and is now OD Manager, responsible for culture, coaching, values and mentoring.

In her role, Adele gets to make a difference every day, by working with colleagues to unlock greater potential, challenge thinking and explore new ideas.

During the pandemic, Adele has helped to #BreakTheBias by not only being promoted to a managerial position, but also studying for her ILM7 (Qualified CEO & Exec Coach) - all at the same time as moving house and undertaking a large renovation project!

Meet Nicola.

As a General Manager for Operations in the Hazardous Waste team, Nicola's role covers the management of four operational hazardous waste facilities in the north of the UK.

With both a Chemistry degree and a first class MBA under her belt, Nicola has gained vast experience since joining the waste industry in 2004 and now holds Chartered Management status. She works to #BreakTheBias every day through her management of 112 members of staff, coupled with a direct P&L responsibility totalling over £20 million.

Meet Mabel.

After joining Veolia as a Sort Line Operative whilst at university in 2010, Mabel has worked her way up to her current role of National Sales & Logistics Manager for Veolia's peat-free compost range, Pro-Grow.

This role involves business development along with account management of key accounts such as B&Q and Screwfix.

Mabel continues to #BreakTheBias on a daily basis by working hard to exceed all set goals and targets, and she is a keen advocate of opportunities being awarded fairly, without bias of any kind.

Meet Rebecca.

As a Strategy Manager at Veolia, Rebecca supports the Chief Operating Officer for the Industrial, Water & Energy side of the business, to design and deliver a range of strategic initiatives.

Rebecca's journey at Veolia began in an entry level position as part of a council contract, addressing queries over the phone, before progressing through several different roles, including joining the corporate finance team.

Approaching her third year in her current role, Rebecca continues to #BreakTheBias by seizing every opportunity she is given at Veolia to make the world a better place.

Meet Julie-Ann, Angie and Lisa.

These women perform the roles of Loader, Supervisor and Driver/Loader at our Waste Transfer Station in Stafford. They all play a vital part in making sure that the waste we collect goes on to be treated sustainably, whilst helping to keep operations running smoothly and efficiently...

...alongside Beverley, a Depot Admin at our Stafford facility.

Every day, these women #BreakTheBias by enabling Veolia's vital operations to continue, alongside their male colleagues.

Meet Kaoru.

A crucial member of our Supply Chain function, Kaoru has fulfilled the role of P2P Project and Reporting Manager since 2015. Her role involves making sure that our Supply Chain policies and procedures are aligned to the relevant industry, regulatory and legislative standards, as well as to both Veolia's and the client's requirements.

Kaoru continues to #BreakTheBias by encouraging those around her to make positive changes to their behaviours and mindsets, in order to enable continued progress on gender equality.

Meet Nicola.

Nicola has recently been appointed PA to the Chief Human Resources Officer & Chief Information Officer at Veolia UK - but this is only her latest role in a varied and rewarding career. After starting out as a PA originally, Nicola diversified into roles in recruitment, and as a developer and trainer for Applicant Tracking Systems.

After joining Veolia in October 2018 as a Salesforce Business Analyst, she decided to return to what she loves, moving into a PA position in December 2020.

Nicola works to #BreakTheBias by being unafraid to challenge the status quo to achieve the best result, and through being a passionate advocate of what Veolia stands for.

Meet Lucy.

Lucy joined Veolia on the graduate scheme, working as part of the Industrial, Water & Energy operations team. She gets involved in a variety of activities, ranging from the day to day running of plants to writing bids.

Lucy works to #BreakTheBias every day by getting stuck into all aspects of an operational role, often as one of the only women.

Meet Jodie.

An MCIPS-qualified Supply Chain Manager, Jodie has worked with Veolia for over eight years. She utilises her skills and experience to deliver sustainable savings, as well as implementing optimised sourcing strategies and purchasing practices.

Jodie helps to #BreakTheBias everyday by empowering her colleagues to see what they are capable of achieving, and celebrating their success. She is keen to challenge stereotyping to ensure we have an inclusive workplace, in which women are equal and able to freely express their thoughts and ideas.
