About us

Ever Wondered What Goes on at the Leeds RERF?

Come and Join Us for the Leeds RERF Wonder Day!

Behind the scenes tours at the Recycling and Energy Recovery Facility (RERF) offer an insight into your household (black bin) waste in the city and the importance of disposing of your waste properly.

During your visit, you will be able to view the largest Green Living Wall in Europe - as well as visiting our purpose-built Visitor Centre and see the inner workings of the Control Room up close.

On the guided tour, you will see how we turn your waste into energy that powers electricity for up to 22,000 homes.

You can also learn about the process of how we separate out rubbish – such as plastics, paper/card and metals – materials which can then be made into new and useful things.
