Waste Education and Outreach

veolia tower hamlets Waste Education and Outreach

As part of Veolia's partnership contract with Tower Hamlets Council, we are responsible for waste education in schools and would like to help your school reduce, re-use and recycle.

Our free Waste Education Programme will help you protect the environment, is linked to the curriculum and provides an excellent opportunity for your pupils to take part in some exciting workshops, competitions and trips.

Sessions are for groups of all sizes and focus on waste and recycling issues, including:
  • ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle’
  • Food waste recycling
  • Composting and wormeries
  • Litter education
  • Helping schools reduce waste to landfill
Sessions can include a number of different activities, tailored to the session, Key Stage and school. A unique and specialist programme can be designed for your school, agreed at a meeting between a Waste Education Officer and teacher. Activities include, but are not limited to:
  • 3R's introductory whole school assembly
  • ‘Rubbish Challenge’ giant floormat and beanbag game
  • Recycled papermaking
  • Rubbish relay competition
  • Children undertaking a waste audit of the school
  • Recycling quiz and bingo
  • A visit to a Veolia recycling site
  • 'Waste Wise Promise’ activity
  • A number of activity sheets for use in class or as homework
