Tower Hamlets is a diverse and vibrant borough. Within the borough is the Isle of Dogs, Shoreditch, Bethnal Green, Bow and Brick Lane - the 'Curry Capital'. It also has 11 street markets, which is more than any other authority in England.
Special Events
A number of special events take place within Tower Hamlets each year. This includes 11 miles of the London Marathon course and the Mela Festival on Brick Lane. Both events attract large numbers of visitors and we are on hand to clean the streets and provide recycling during and after they take place.
Tower Hamlets is one of five London boroughs which hosted the Olympic Games in 2012. Thousands of people from across the world had their eyes on the East End of London. Veolia achieved the highest standards of cleanliness throughout Tower Hamlets before, during and after the games.
Street Cleansing
In addition to the street cleansing of over 1,500 streets, we also carry out graffiti removal, street furniture washing, public convenience cleansing, street scrubbing and market cleansing in Tower Hamlets.
In conjunction with Tower Hamlets Council we operate a Find it, Fix it service. Teams in rapid response vehicles identify and fix problems such as graffiti, fly posting and fly tipping on both private and council owned land. In the first six months of its launch, the team dealt with over 450 jobs.
