Southwark Integrated Waste Management Facility Wonder Day

Welcome to Wonder Day 2020!

This year, we're taking you on a digital tour of our facility, where you'll get a rare look into the world of recycling, and meet some of our fantastic team.

To start, let us show you how our recycling facility works!

In this video with WIRED, we uncover why it's important to recycle right, and debunk some of the biggest recycling myths from the capital. It's a must-watch if you want exclusive tips on how to be a top recycler.

Our state-of-the-art recycling facility at Southwark is industry leading - but it's not just the high-tech machines that make our processes best in class. Our expert staff  play a vital role in delivering recycling innovations every day. Do you want to know how?

Meet the team!

Our Materials Recover Facility Manager, Jake makes sure that all your recycling is sorted and separated properly, so it can go on to be made into something new. It takes great skill to do Jake's job!

Our Logistics Supervisor, Joe is responsible for overseeing the safe transportation of recycling in and out of our facility. Joe is a very busy man!

Our South London Education, Communication and Outreach Manager, Rachel plays the important role of helping the public to recycle correctly. Encouraging sustainable waste behaviours, Rachel's work directly affects recycling rates!

If we've whetted your appetite and you want to take an even closer look of our facility, we've got you covered.

What happens after your recycling is sorted at our Southwark IWMF?

Plastic milk bottles are taken to our Dagenham Plastics Recycling Facility.  Check out our other Wonder Day pages or get our top recycling tips for Recycle Week.
