Oxton Composting Facility

Veolia nottinghamshire Composting Facility

What happens to my garden waste?

After your green waste / garden waste bin is collected from the kerbside by the Borough and District Council's it is taken to the Veolia composting facility at Oxton.  It is checked for contamination, shredded, formed into windrows and regularly turned to optimise the natural composting process.  The green waste is processed over 12 weeks. Finally, the product is screened to a range of grades for agricultural use.

Composting is nature's way of recycling. Composting biodegrades organic waste (i.e. vegetable peelings, manure, leaves, grass trimmings etc.) turning it into a valuable fertiliser.
