Three groups from the Nottinghamshire Federation of Women's Institute visited the MRF and trialed these new sessions which include a pre-tour introduction, viewing a short DVD, a recycling sorting activity, a tour of the facility, and a recycled textile reuse activity called ‘Toothbrush Rag Rug making’ hosted by Bettys Sewing Box from Ashbourne, Derbyshire.
The ladies left knowledgeable about what can and can't go in their recycling bin as well as a deeper understanding of what happens to the contents of their bin once it leaves their kerbside.
Kevin Parker, Regional Communications Manager for Veolia said: "Visits such as these are fantastic for getting everyone involved in making Nottinghamshire a cleaner and greener county. We look forward to welcoming lots more groups and schools to the MRF".
The next public Wonder Day is on Saturday 13th September. If you have ever wondered what happens to your recycling once it has been collected from your home, why not come along and find out! Tours last roughly 45 minutes, and high vis vests & safety hats will be provided. Tours are free, but must be booked in advance. To book a place on a tour please email [email protected]
