Veolia (Nottinghamshire County Council’s waste management contractor) are hosting Grow it, Carve it, Cook it, Compost it, an event all about the seasonal favourite – the Pumpkin on Thursday 30th October, 11am - 3pm at The Crossings Church and Centre, Newcastle Street, Worksop, Nottinghamshire, S80 2AT
The free event will show you how to grow pumpkins, with seeds available for planting in spring and have a go at the green-fingered activity and get planting. There will be an opportunity to get creative have a go at carving a friendly pumpkin, or helping to create our own paper pumpkin patch. Taste some yummy pumpkin recipes including soup, pasta and muffins from home economist Teresa Bovey and learn how the discarded middles from a carved pumpkin can be turned into tasty dishes. Bassetlaw District Council and Nottinghamshire County Council will be on hand with hints and tips on how best to compost your food and garden waste at home, and offer tips and advice on what can be recycled at home.
There will also be a tombola fundraising for Veolia Environnement UK’s charity of the year – Variety.
