The Pumpkin possibilities are endless - Grow it, Carve it, Cook it, Compost it!

The free event will show you how to grow pumpkins, with seeds available for planting in spring and have a go at the green-fingered activity and get planting. There will be an opportunity to get creative have a go at carving a friendly pumpkin, or helping to create our own paper pumpkin patch.

Taste some yummy pumpkin recipes including soup, pasta and muffins from home economist Teresa Bovey and learn how the discarded middles from a carved pumpkin can be turned into tasty dishes. Bassetlaw District Council and Nottinghamshire County Council will be on hand with hints and tips on how best to compost your food and garden waste, and offer tips and advice on what can be recycled at home.

There will also be a tombola fundraising for Veolia Environnement UK’s charity of the year – Variety.

Victoria Moore, Communications Officer for Veolia said: "’Grow it, carve it, cook it, compost it!’ is an ideal opportunity to show how one item can be used and enjoyed in lots of different ways before going full circle and being composted to make the nutrients to grow pumpkins for next year. “

We hope you will join us for a free, fun, creative and educational day.
