Nottingham facility to host preparation for the Queen's 90th birthday
A Royal Knit
In preparation for the Queen's 90th Birthday Street Party we are supporting Mansfield District Council who will be decorating the town centre with wool, joining forces with the community to "yarn bomb" the town centre from Monday 6th June 2016
You can prepare for the event at any of the Knit and Natter afternoons being held at the Materials Recovery Facility in Mansfield on the following dates:
Friday 8th April from 1-4pm
Friday 22nd April from 1-4pm
Friday 6th May from 1-4pm
Friday 20th May from 1-4pm
Tuesday 31st May from 10am - 4pm
Friday 3rd June from 10am - 4pm
The knit and natter sessions will include a tour of the Recycling Facility for those aged 7 and over, (please wear flat covered shoes, the tour is accessed by an external gridded staircase)
Mansfield District Council are calling for all knitters and crocheters to get involved by knitting squares using patriotic colours and patterns. Squares will then be stitched together and wrapped around tree trunks, railings and lampposts from 6 to 19 June.
All pieces will then be washed and made into blankets to be given to the district's homeless community.
To get involved simply get knitting and contact our coordinator, Sara Brown from Yankee Yarns on 07429 138131 or email [email protected]com
Download your free knitting pattern if you're not able to join us.
Knitted squares can be dropped off at the Materials Recovery Facility up to the 30th May.
