Big Tick for Veolia in the BitC Responsible Business Awards

Veolia’s shortlisting reflects its goal to become a leading employer. With 12,000 members of staff and service levels a key method of differentiation it is vital that it retains and recruit a highly skilled, mobile and motivated workforce.

One of the key achievements, following the launch of its Talent and Skills programme, saw the dramatic increase of completing individual personal development reviews from 18% to 66% across the business.

Estelle Brachlianoff, Chief Executive Officer of Veolia Environmental Services said “Talent development is part of our ‘corporate DNA’ and integral to our ‘Go Further Together’ strategy. We are investing significant resources to make this a reality, creating robust processes and measurements to ensure managers produce continuous sustainable improvement. Our shortlisting in this category really highlights how far we have come by investing in staff development at all levels.”
Veolia will now present its programme to the final judging panel with the opportunity to be crowned overall category winner in the UK. The final result will be announced on 2 July at BitC’s National Gala Dinner in London.

Veolia also was reaccredited with the Big Tick Climate Change award following last year’s achievement of category winner.

Commenting Stephen Howard, Business in the Community’s Chief Executive said: “The Responsible Business Awards shine the spotlight on an aspect of business that very rarely gets much public recognition – and that is its ability and willingness to truly transform lives, communities and society for the better. I congratulate Veolia Environmental Services for its Big Tick today, which recognises that it is part of a movement of companies creating value by living their values. We hope their example will inspire many more businesses to put responsible behaviour at the heart of how they do business.”

The Big Tick is the first level of accolade in the Responsible Business Awards, the UK’s longest-running and most respected corporate responsibility awards. The scheme was set up to champion and raise awareness of the best examples from across the UK of business making a positive difference and genuinely tackling key social and environmental issues with award-winning corporate responsibility programmes.
