Nic Gilbert, Veolia Water's water efficiency expert, said: "This weekend, we gave over 600 water saving devices to our customers; that equates to a saving of 10,000 litres. Installing a Hippo or Save a Flush saves 1 and 2 litres of water with every toilet flush, and water widgets save around a third of water in the shower.
"We want to reassure our customers that despite experiencing two dry summers and two dry winters, our water supplies are within the normal range. However, we need our customers to help us save water to ensure our supplies are not affected for next year, particularly if we have another dry winter.
"Using just one litre less of tap water a day means that more can be left in our natural environment. That's good for us, it's good for wildlife, and it will help us prevent restrictions next summer."
