RecycleBank and Veolia Named as Green Pioneers

Think London, the official foreign direct investment agency for London has named recycling and waste management leader, Veolia Environmental Services and Recyclebank, the UK’s leading ‘rewards for recycling’ company as ‘green pioneers’ in its first ‘100 Companies To Watch’ report.

The exclusive list highlights some of London’s greatest inward investment successes and celebrates the significant success these organisations have made in shaping London’s economic landscape and recognises those most likely to grow and flourish in the global economy.

Listed under the category ‘Green Pioneers’, RecycleBank has been recognised as a company that has developed the know-how and technology to help develop a ‘greener’ planet.  Veolia Environmental Services employs almost four thousand people inside the M25 and is at the forefront of low carbon waste treatment technology and a major investor in the capital’s recycling infrastructure.

Michael Charlton, Think London Chief Executive commented: “While we’ve helped thousands of companies over the years, we think that these 100 organisations, including Veolia Environmental Services and RecycleBank, deserve particular recognition. In our opinion they are revolutionising the way things are done in the city and will shape the capital’s economy for years to come.”

Sue Igoe, UK Managing Director of Recyclebank, said; “Recyclebank is leading the charge towards environmental change on a daily basis by motivating individuals to change their behaviour and attitudes to recycling using the ‘carrot and not the stick’.

“To be recognised as a ‘green pioneer’ in the first ever ‘Think London 100 Companies to Watch’ is a fantastic achievement and is testament to the dedication and hard work of everyone involved in the initiative.”

Tom Spaul, Chief Operating Officer, Veolia Environmental Services (UK) Plc added: “Inward investment is a crucial part of the London economy and we are delighted to be recognised for our role in stimulating growth and supporting learning and development.

“We also feel that by working with Recyclebank there is the opportunity for boosting recycling participation in the capital through introducing recycling reward schemes.”

Recyclebank dramatically increases recycling rates by offering participating households rewards for their recycling efforts. Recyclebank’s proprietary technology measures the amount of material recycled by members and then converts that amount into Recyclebank Points. The points can be redeemed for rewards at hundreds of local and national shops, restaurants and leisure facilities or donated to local schools. Within the UK, more than 200 local and national businesses partner with Recyclebank to encourage Recyclebank members towards greener behaviour and increased recycling habits.
