‘Working together for a better environment’ is the strapline for Veolia Environmental Services’ Sheffield contract which is nominated for Best UK Operational Project. The nomination recognises the strong and successful relationship which has developed between Veolia Environmental Services and Sheffield City Council. A unique 35 year contract, alongside the refuse and recycling services is an award winning District Energy Network heating over 140 buildings and a citywide Waste Awareness programme delivered to schools and community groups.
Nominated for the Best Designed Project in the UK, the Marchwood ‘Silver Dome’ is located on the western bank of Southampton’s water and stands as a visually stunning local landmark. The site is an Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) that provides enough electricity to power 22,000 homes, and stands as a leading example of best environmental practice and design for waste management in the UK.
Gavin Graveson, MD Treatment & Executive Director for Veolia Environmental Services says: ‘”We’re delighted to have been shortlisted for two PPF awards. The nomination shows our commitment to integrated waste management solutions and the importance of working in partnership with clients to minimise our impact on the environment and divert waste from landfill.’’
