Andrew Hanratty, Compliance Scheme Manager at Veolia was one of eleven new members appointed to the board. The WAB plays a vital role in advising Government on waste electronics and these new appointments were made to bring new experience and knowledge to the group’s future programme of work.
There were over 60 applicants from various UK stakeholder sectors and all shortlisted applicants had to go through a rigorous interview process before the final 11 new WAB members were announced.
Andrew has 18 years experience in the recycling and waste management sector and 10 years direct involvement in Producer Responsibility legislation. In 2007 he was also actively involved in the development of the Veolia Environmental Services WEEE Compliance Scheme and the establishment of BatteryBack – the joint venture between Veolia and WasteCare, which is responsible for the obligations of over 20% of the UK’s battery market.
The WAB will meet every thee months to discuss matters relating to, or arising from, the implementation of the Waste Electrical and Electronic Directive and the UK WEEE regulations.
