On Sunday 1 April Veolia Environmental Services will be inviting the British public to nominate their local public/community space to win a ‘clean up’ through its Clean Sweep for Britain campaign. Launched in time for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations, Veolia in partnership with The People newspaper aims to give more areas around the UK some TLC.
As well as sprucing up community spaces Veolia and The People are also on the hunt for 60 local community heroes through their Diamond People awards. The public are asked to nominate individuals who they believe are an inspiration to their local area.
Veolia is passionate about giving something back to the communities where it lives and works. Last year staff gave over 10,600 hours of volunteering time to support community projects and through the Landfill Communities Fund Veolia Environmental Trust donated over £4.19M to 131 local communities.
Kevin Hurst, Marketing and Communications Director at Veolia Environmental Services (UK) plc said “This Spring we are thrilled to be launching Veolia’s first consumer engagement campaign. This year, more than ever, the UK will be in the spotlight of the world and we want to help make it shine! Communities are our passion and A Clean Sweep for Britain is proud to be recognising them.”
Gary Jones, Deputy Editor at The People said “The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee is a fantastic opportunity to show how passionate we are about keeping Britain great. Veolia’s commitment to improving local communities is making a big difference to people’s lives. And The People wants to shout that message loud and clear.”
This is the first time Veolia, the UK’s leading recycling and waste management company, has launched a consumer engagement campaign of this kind. To promote this further Veolia has teamed up with The People newspaper that already has a strong passionate community focused readership.
