Compost bin winners announced

Ten lucky winners walked away with compost bins after entering a prize draw at road shows across the city organised by Veolia Environmental Services during International Compost Week. The week highlighted the benefits of composting at home and how easy it is to give it a go.

Home composting is a great way to recycle unwanted vegetable and fruit peelings, grass mowings, hedge trimmings, leaves and unwanted plants to create a nutritious free food for your gardens.

One of our lucky winders, Mrs Payling from Intake was presented her winning bin by our very own composting guru, Connie Compost Bin.

Mrs Payling said, “I have had a compost bin for a long time but it needed replacing. I am so pleased that I was drawn as one of the lucky winners and can start making my own compost again now. I can now recycle peelings and garden waste again into compost which will help make the plants in my garden grow.”

Discounted compost bins are also available to purchase for only £14 from Heeley City Farm. Alternatively, Veolia offer a chargeable fortnightly kerbside collection service for unwanted garden waste.
