Disruption to waste collections on Monday 17th October

The GMB Union members at Veolia Sheffield are striking for one day; and this will impact on collections for Sheffield residents with a Monday collection day.

Veolia will be making every attempt to collect all recycling (blue bin and box) waste as normal. We ask those residents who are due a black bin collection not to place their bins out on Monday, but instead place them out for collection before 7am on Saturday 22nd October, when a small amount of side waste may be taken with your black bin waste. Residents expecting a green garden waste bin collection are asked to place them out as normal; however, their collection will be delayed.

If any of your bins or boxes has not been emptied on Monday, please leave them out for collection, as we will be deploying extra crews during the week and aim to finish by Saturday 22nd October.

Veolia apologises for any disruption and we would like to reassure resident’s that we are working hard to minimise the impact of the strike action on collections in the City. We will be working with a reduced number of collection crews, and may take more time than usual to collect resident’s containers.

Collections from Tuesday 18th October onwards should not be affected by this industrial action.

All Household Waste Recycling Centres will be unaffected by the industrial action and will remain open as normal. From Saturday 1st October winter opening times began, with our HWRCs opening from 10am to 4pm.

We will provide service updates on our website at www.veolia.co.uk/sheffield and via Twitter @Recycle4Shef.

The Veolia Call Centre is open 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday on 0114 273 4567.
