Garden waste recycling service set to start in Sheffield

Garden waste recycling collections will begin across Sheffield from 21 April 2014. Veolia Environmental Services, on behalf of Sheffield City Council, are pleased to announce the service cost for this year will be £55.80 for 15 collections.

Debbie Doohan, General Manager, Veolia Environmental Services said, “The garden waste collection service is a convenient way to recycle your unwanted green waste from home. The cost of the service is over £4 cheaper than last years’ service with the flexibility to join the service part way through the year at a reduced rate".

Through the service, green bins are collected every two weeks between April and November. Those that used the service last year will be receiving their renewal information through the post shortly and the service is open to all households in the City. In order to receive all 15 collections, residents need to sign up and pay for the service by 11 April.

Unwanted garden waste can also be recycled for free at any of the city’s five Household Waste Recycling Centres or at home by composting. Home composting is really easy to do.
To help you get started, through a discounted scheme, compost bins are available from only £15. To find out more about recycling garden waste or to subscribe to the collection service, call 0114 273 4567, email [email protected]
