Household Waste Recycling Centres are operating as normal from Wednesday 12 November

Veolia and Sheffield City Council are advising residents that the normal Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) service resumes from Wednesday 12 November until Tuesday 25 November due to a temporary suspension of industrial action by the GMB and employees of the Green Company.

The Green Company, the subcontractor that runs Sheffield’s five HWRCs, and the workforce are still working to resolve their dispute. However, all five HWRCs will be operating as normal during the two week period, with Deepcar and High Green re-opening on Thursday 13 and Friday 14 respectively. The three largest sites (Longley Avenue West, Beighton Road and Blackstock Road) continue to operate as normal.

Councillor Jack Scott, Cabinet Member for Environment, Recycling and Streetscene commented: “I am pleased that the workforce have postponed strike action during this dispute to allow residents to recycle as normal whilst discussions continue. I’m optimistic that an amenable end to this dispute will come during this period.”
