The HWRCs are provided for Sheffield residents to dispose of household waste from their own homes, such as: garden waste, electrical equipment, furniture and other bulky household items. The sites also provide recycling containers for items that can't be recycled at home including plastic food containers, foil and textiles. Over 70% of the waste taken to the HWRCs is recovered or recycled.
Veolia would also like to remind residents that the five HWRCs operate a vehicle permit scheme. Veolia operates the permit scheme on behalf of Sheffield City Council to prevent the illegal disposal of trade waste at any of the sites. This means that 4x4s with pickups, small vans, Short Wheel Base transit vans, mini buses and cars with trailers will only be allowed on site with a permit.
