SOVA announced as new operators of Sheffield’s Household Waste Recycling Centres

Sheffield City Council and Veolia Environmental Services are delighted to announce that SOVA Recycling is the new subcontractor who has taken over the management of the five Household Waste Recycling Centres in Sheffield for a period of five years. SOVA will work with Sheffield City Council to make sure that the residents of Sheffield have a viable alternative to just throwing their ‘bulky’ waste away.

SOVA Recycling is the latest initiative from national charity SOVA which works to support, challenge and inspire people to make changes to improve their lives.  SOVA aims to be at the heart of every community supporting people into training and jobs, away from offending and into volunteering so they can fulfil their potential and make a positive difference.

Steve Bennett, operations director of SOVA Recycling also comments: “SOVA Recycling is a social enterprise, based in Sheffield, which offers an easy and environmentally friendly way to get rid of your bulky waste.  We are really excited about the partnership because we know we can have a positive impact on the local environment.  As a social enterprise, SOVA Recycling aims to do good in the community – both environmentally and socially.  Through our work the city benefits in two ways – we recycle responsibly and we create training and work opportunities for local people.  This partnership with Sheffield City Council and Veolia will not only allow us to make Sheffield an even greener city but also enable us to support our work to help local people who are often sidelined by society.”

Found in Beighton, Deepcar, High Green, Shirecliffe and on Blackstock Road, Sheffield’s five Household Waste Recycling Centres are useful for both small and large items and are provided for Sheffield residents to dispose of household waste from their own homes, such as: garden waste, electrical or electronic equipment, furniture and other bulky household items.
