Veolia and Sheffield City Council thank residents for their patience as delayed waste collections are completed over the weekend

Veolia will be collecting black bin and recycling bins and boxes as scheduled for collection today (2 January) and Saturday 3 January. Extra crews will also be working every day until the backlog is cleared which is anticipated to be Sunday for black bins and the majority of recycling containers. Any outstanding recycling container collections will be completed early next week. Residents are advised to leave their containers out until they have been collected.

Councillor Jayne Dunn, Cabinet Member for Environment, Recycling and Streetscene commented: “I’m sorry for the delays to some collections which was due to the heavy snow fall last weekend. However now that the weather has improved we are working as quickly as we can, using extra crews, to catch up and get collections back on schedule. “

“We hope to have the majority of the outstanding collections completed by the end of the weekend.”

Francis Drew, Contract Manager at Veolia said: "With the improved working conditions following the recent milder temperatures, we're working to catch up with the backlog of collections as quickly as we can. To help residents we are also collecting small amounts of bagged side waste with the black bins, and small amounts of extra card with the blue bins/boxes."

"Extra waste can also be taken to any of the city's Household Waste Recycling Centres or bring sites which are open as normal."

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused and would like to thank residents for their patience whilst we complete outstanding collections."
