Waste disruption dispute continues

Veolia are sorry to advise that there has been further industrial action today on Thursday 27th October by some refuse and recycling collection teams. We had hoped to avert today’s action but unfortunately that was not possible.

Veolia will continue to work hard to minimise any disruption in the City and would like to thank residents for their patience and understanding while we clear the backlog. Residents are asked to continue to present their bins as normal and leave your containers out until they have been emptied.

A spokesman from Veolia added:

“We continue to work hard to try to resolve this dispute and have had numerous meetings with the GMB Union, including a meeting last Friday, involving ACAS. The GMB balloted their members on Monday with an improved offer from the company but this was rejected.

Yesterday Veolia met with the GMB to discuss matters and a further meeting is scheduled for Monday.”

All Household Waste Recycling Centres are unaffected by the industrial action and remain open as normal. We advise residents with excess waste to use one of our five household waste recycling centres across the City. Please check our website for details, and note that from Saturday 1st October winter opening times began, which are 10am to 4pm.

Any further information will be provided as service updates on our website at www.veolia.co.uk/sheffield and via Twitter @Recycle4Shef.

The Veolia Call Centre is open 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday on 0114 273 4567.
