The new calendars provide residents with their black bin, blue bin and blue box collection dates up to October 2014. They also provide helpful information about items that should not be placed in the blue bin or blue box such as yoghurt cartons, plastic bags and food trays.
Inside the calendar are details of an online waste survey. This survey provides residents with the opportunity to have their say on the current waste and recycling services and asks for feedback on the possible future direction of waste services. Residents are reminded that the closing date for completing the survey is 31st October 2013. Residents are encouraged to have their say before this date to make sure their views are taken into account when the Council updates its plan for dealing with Sheffield’s waste for the next 5-20 years.
Details of how to take part in the online survey are on the collection calendar or can be found by visiting www.sheffield.gov.uk/waste. Paper copies can be requested by emailing [email protected] or by calling 0114 203 7621.
Jack Scott, Cabinet Member for Environment, Recycling and Streetscene comments: “We are suffering from huge cuts at the moment which have forced us to reduce some of the waste services we offer – such as moving to alternate week waste collections.“
