Help increase recycling rates in Southend-on-Sea

Veolia is inviting local residents to become Recycling Champions

To mark this year's Great British Spring Clean (22 March - 23 April), Southend-on-Sea residents are invited to get involved.

If you live in Southend-on-Sea, are interested in the environment and have pride in the community in which you live why not get involved? Become the champion that your community deserves!

As a volunteer Recycling Champion you will receive training and a kit with all the equipment that you need to promote recycling and waste reduction schemes to your community.

As Southend-on-Sea Borough Council’s recycling and waste contractor, Veolia launched the street champions’ scheme in 2018. With almost 200 volunteers across the borough one year later, it has been a huge success and continues to make a difference in the borough’s streets. Working on this success, Veolia is now launching a new recycling champions’ scheme.

As a Recycling Champion, you will work within your local community to promote recycling schemes, raise awareness about the importance of recycling and provide advice to other residents about how easy recycling really is in Southend-on-Sea. With your support and passion, we aim to increase the amount of waste we recycle each year to more than 50%.

So celebrate the Great British Spring Clean by taking the opportunity to champion recycling in your local community and become a Recycling Champion or join us at an organised litter pick. For more information contact our recycling officers via [email protected] or call 0203 567 6955 (by 5pm).
