Veolia delivers a recycling and waste collection service that enables and encourages the community within Southend to maximise the amount they can reuse, recycle and compost
The overall objective is to increase the recycling rate through greater participation, and reduce residual waste.
Every year, we collect around 31 000 tonnes of recycling and 42 000 tonnes of general waste from households in Southend. We use split-body vehicles with two compartments. This allows two materials to be collected at the same time but kept separate. This is how we collect recycling at the same time as paper and card as well as food waste at the same time as residual.
