Nine different community groups from across the borough attended a presentation evening last night to receive their cheque. A total of £6,800 for projects that benefit the local community or environment was presented by the Mayor of Telford & Wrekin, Councillor Rae Evans. The EnviroGrant funding scheme is part of Veolia’s waste contract with Telford & Wrekin Council commitment to support the local community.
Steve Mitchell, Director for Veolia, said, “It’s inspiring to meet people who make a real difference in their communities. We are pleased to be able to support local groups as part of our work in Telford & Wrekin.”
Councillor Angela McClements, Telford & Wrekin Council’s Cabinet Member for Transport, Customer & Neighbourhood Services, said, “Local organisations can apply for a grant of up to £1000 for projects based in the borough of Telford and Wrekin. The form is really easy to complete and Veolia and Telford & Wrekin Council want these funds to go to where they are needed the most. I am delighted to have met so many dedicated groups this evening who are making a real difference to their communities”.
If you would like to apply to next round of the EnviroGrant Scheme you can do so now. Deadline for applications is 27th January 2017.
