The EnviroGrant Scheme is a community fund to which not-for-profit community groups based in Telford & Wrekin can apply for grants of up to £1,000 for projects which improve their local environment. Projects with an environmental/green focus are prioritised, however all applications are considered on their individual merit.
Grants will be awarded twice a year.
Speaking at the launch, Steve Mitchell, Director for Veolia said: “We want this scheme to make a real difference to local groups who need additional funding. For example it could be a local allotment group that needs £500 for a new lawn mower or a parent and toddler group which needs £250 to brighten up their play area. We would encourage all groups to apply, no matter how small the request is.”
Hosting the launch event was Councillor Shaun Davies, the council’s cabinet member for Neighbourhood Services, who said: “This is an excellent initiative by our recycling partner and fits very well with our Pride in Your Community programme. I would like to encourage all community groups in the borough of Telford and Wrekin to make an application to the fund.”
The first grants will be awarded this September and groups have until the end of July to apply.
