Community and sports groups in Telford and Wrekin are being encouraged to apply to a local grant scheme before the closing date of the end of January. The EnviroGrant and Sports Funding grants are run by recycling contractor Veolia in partnership with Telford & Wrekin Council.
EnviroGrant gives grants of up to £1000 for projects that benefit the local community or environment; while the Sports Funding gives up to £500 to sports groups to benefit the club and the wider community. Since it began in 2015 the grant scheme has supported projects including community gardens, equipment for children’s groups, and sports coach training.
Ruth Jones, Communications and Engagement Officer for Veolia, said, “The grants are part of the added value that Veolia bring to the borough. The money is there to support local groups, so the application form is relatively straightforward to make it accessible to even small groups.
“The closing date for applications is 31st January, further information on grants and Veolia’s community work, is available on the website www.veolia.co.uk/telford-and-wrekin. Alternatively people can contact me on firstname.lastname@example.org or 07824 545597.”
