Staff at Telford’s state of the art recycling and waste facility are celebrating reaching their first milestone birthday.
Veolia, the recycling and waste contractor for Telford and Wrekin Council opened the Hortonwood Household Recycling Centre (HRC) on 3 October 2016. Since then, the team has welcomed over 240,000 cars through the site and has received over 14,000 tonnes of recycling and waste.
Steve Mitchell, Veolia’s Director Midlands West said “We are proud to offer a service to residents which means they can dispose of their recycling quickly and with ease. Our view the queue system ensures the public can see the activity on the site and time their visit.
“The extended opening hours, which enables the public to come to the site seven days a week, 362 days a year has been well received and we are pleased to offer that level of convenience to the town. We have a brilliant team on site and look forward to welcoming another 240,000 cars to the HRC over the next 12 months.”
Council Leader, Shaun Davies said “We are proud of our HRC facilities with Telford and Wrekin. Both HRC sites have the facilities to recycle and reuse a large range of items. Since the transfer of the management of the HRC’s in October 2016 we have received lots of positive feedback from residents on their experiences”.
