The funding has been awarded to each club by Veolia as part of the Telford & Wrekin Council waste contract initiatives and added value plan. Veolia, the recycling contractor for Telford & Wrekin held an award ceremony at the new Southwater One building.

Mark Hunter, Veolia Operations Manager said: ‘Sometimes it’s the smaller clubs which struggle to find funding, so we are delighted to be able to help. The monies will go towards new equipment and training for the staff who volunteer at the clubs’.

Councillor Shaun Davies, cabinet member for Neighbourhood and Customer Services including Pride in Your Community said: “It’s great to see that through the new waste contract in Telford & Wrekin, Veolia are able to support the borough’s community this way. Such funding can be valuable for smaller organisations and I am sure this money will help ensure that many more people continue to get involved in these great local sports clubs .”
