Now in its fourth year, the EnviroGrant Scheme has awarded over £40,000 to a variety of projects across Telford and Wrekin. This initiative is managed by Veolia as part of the added value included in the Telford & Wrekin Council waste contract and supports projects that benefit the community and environment across the borough.
Hartshorne Court Lunch Club in Dawley was awarded £1000 in funding to start their Healthy Outdoor Plan. The first phase was to introduce an outdoor gym.
Viv Chalmers, Scheme Manager said “Our little community gym class is on every Wednesday at 1.45pm. Veolia has paid for the personal trainer via Fit4all. With the funding we received we will be able to run the classes for six whole months! The class makes such a difference to older people who are glad to get out for some exercise and really enjoy having some company which reduces isolation.”
The EnviroGrant Scheme is open for applications now. Grants of up to £1000 are available to non for profit organisations whose projects help the local community or environment.
