Local Master Composter, Trevor Davies of Holmer Lake in Telford is encouraging residents to take up composting at home as part of National Compost Week.
Trevor has been an expert in composting for over ten years. Today he spends part of his retirement working alongside Veolia to teach local groups and primary school pupils how to compost.
Trevor said “I have always had an interest in the environment, but I felt it was beyond me to make a difference. Then I discovered making compost at home from kitchen and garden waste is probably the single easiest and most effective thing most people can do to be environmentally friendly.
“I had attempted to make compost at home but seemed to end up with nothing happening or a smelly mess. The opportunity came up to take the course at Garden Organic to learn how to be a Master Composter. Making compost from garden and kitchen waste really is easy when you know how.
“I became a Master Composter in 2008 and what a rich reward that brought. I speak to gardening groups, allotment societies, rotary clubs, WIs, U3A and schools. I am made so welcome and have met some really interesting people.”
