From October 3rd there will be two recycling centres in the borough, one in the south at Halesfield 1, and a brand new site in the north at Hortonwood 50. As part of the changes the recycling centres at Ketley and Granville will close.
Veolia will run both sites and are currently adding the finishing touches to the Hortonwood site. The site has been developed with user-friendliness in mind – there is a split-level system with skips and portholes at an accessible height. There will be trained staff on both sites to assist and advise if required, and people will be able to check for site queue’s online before setting out.
Both sites will be open 9am-5pm, 7 days a week; they will only be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. The changes mean that Telford and Wrekin’s Household Recycling Centres will be open for 770 hours extra per year and it will also remove the uncertainty about whether a site is open on a given day.
