ReCreation Day Artist Upcycles Rubbish and Recycling

Karen Bicknell, creator of Found Creations and Botanic Arts said “Having not picked up a paintbrush or pencil in many years, my son and I got involved in last year’s Shropshire Rocks craze. It was then I realised being creative didn’t have to be in the traditional sense of drawing and painting on the usual types of canvas. I found drawing and painting on rocks very therapeutic and inspiring.
“I went from doodling on small stones to creating more detailed paintings on larger rocks and then through trial and error I discovered that pretty much anything could be canvas! I began to dismantle old pallets and use the wood for making signs and plaques, people would give me scraps of wood and I began to use pretty much whatever I could find as a base for whatever project I had on the go and from there Found Creations was born.
The free family event will showcase local talents including artists, designers and innovators as well as having local food, drink and workshops for children. The ReCreation Day will take place on Saturday 22 September 2018 at Dale End Park, Ironbridge from 10am to 4pm.  The event is organised by Veolia as part of the added value included in the Telford & Wrekin Council waste contract to support projects that benefit the community and environment across the borough.
Karen added “The ReCreation day will be a day where people can come along and see just what we can do with items that we usually, discard or see as useless. It will be a day that will hopefully open people’s eyes to new creative ways of recycling, reusing and up cycling.”
If you would like to have a stall at the event please contact Sarah at [email protected] or 07787 005 379.
