Reviive is one of two organisations that have secured three-year contracts as reuse partners at Telford & Wrekin Household Recycling Centres.
The decision comes after a successful three month trial at the sites run by recycling contractor Veolia in partnership with Telford & Wrekin Council.
Reviive is based at Hortonwood 50, and complements MJP based at Halesfield 1. Both organisations are local and work with Veolia in actively promoting the salvage of items which could be reused rather than recycled.
There are specific areas on each site for appropriate items and Reviive and MJP have a trained operative on hand most days to advise on the suitability of donations such as furniture, white goods and electrical equipment.
Reviive managing director Julian Price said: “The trial period was very encouraging with us collecting two full containers of donations per week.
“This means that we can resell the products to our customers raise funds for our chosen charities and continue to create jobs at Reviive.
“In fact, our site operative Les Lewis joined us after a period of long-term unemployment. Following six months as a volunteer he is now a full-time employee, which is a good news story in itself.
“We are pleased that our relationship with Veolia and Telford & Wrekin Council has become a long-term arrangement at Hortonwood.”
Steve Mitchell, director for Veolia said: “We are always looking for innovative ways to reuse materials and reduce the amount of waste the borough generates – so this partnership is really great news.
“By working with Reviive, we have a partner with the same environmental ambitions as Veolia, and which also shares our determination to create jobs and training opportunities through its work.”
