There were seven diverse community groups from across the borough who attended a presentation event last night to receive their cheques. A total of £6384 for projects that benefit the local community or environment was presented by Councillor Shaun Davies, Telford & Wrekin Council Leader and Cabinet Member for Neighbourhood Services & the Pride in Our Community programme, Councillor Stephen Reynolds Mayor of the borough, and Steve Mitchell, Midlands West Director of Veolia. The EnviroGrant funding scheme is part of the added value brought to the borough through Veolia’s waste contract with Telford & Wrekin Council.
Steve Mitchell, said, “We’re delighted to support local groups through the EnviroGrant funding. It’s also great to meet the inspiring people who work hard to strengthen local communities and the local environment.”
Councillor Shaun Davies, said, “Local organisations can apply for a grant of up to £1,000 for projects based in the borough of Telford and Wrekin. The form is relatively straight forward to complete and Veolia and Telford & Wrekin Council want these funds to go to where they are needed the most. I am pleased to have met people here tonight who are dedicated to making a real difference in their communities”.
If you would like to apply to next round of the EnviroGrant Scheme you can do so now. Deadline for applications is 31st January 2018 and application forms are available to download from our Working with the Community page.
