A brand new campaign has been launched to encourage more residents in Telford & Wrekin to recycle in the right way. Telford & Wrekin Council in conjunction with Veolia, the recycling contractor for the borough, is introducing rewards for those who use their recycling containers correctly.
The Super Thumbs Up Prize Pot campaign will offer residents the chance to win £50 to be used at a variety of Council Services, including The Place, leisure facilities, handyman and garden services and more.
Campaign organiser, Sarah Maythorne from Veolia said “We are thrilled that Telford residents have embraced the new recycling service and increased the amount of household waste we recycle from 43% (2013) to 47%(2016).
“Telford & Wrekin Council and Veolia wanted to say thank you to those who are recycling in the right way. In order to be in with a chance to win, all you need to do is use your recycling containers correctly. As a reminder, we put glass, plastics and tins in the purple container and paper and card in the blue bag.
Councillor Angela McClements, Telford & Wrekin Council’s cabinet member for Communities, said: “This is a great initiative to encourage more residents to use the correct containers for their recycling while giving them an opportunity to win some great prizes.
“Hopefully it will lead to our recycling rates increasing even more going forward and I would like to thank our residents in advance for their positive response.”
Residents should look out for a leaflet left on the container, from 23 May to find out more. Winners will receive a Super Thumbs Up bin hanger on their purple container between Monday 13 June and Friday 15 July which details how to claim the £50 voucher. For more information click here.
