Electrical items are one of the most popular gifts received at Christmas and Newbury Recycling Centre offers the perfect place to reuse and recycle all the items that you no longer need or want  – so this year West Berkshire Council and Veolia are encouraging people to Bring it, Don’t bin it!

With lots of TV’s and mobile phones thrown away at this time of year, due to upgrades or replacements, people can bring old electrical items to Newbury Recycling Centre (off Newtown Road). Residents are reminded to make sure they remove any information stored on their device before recycling it.

All electrical items – anything with a power cable or battery-powered – can be dropped off at the reuse shed in area 2 and there are a number of small electrical recycling banks dotted around West Berkshire. Find out where your nearest bank is at www.westberks.gov.uk/waste.

This year West Berkshire have recycled around 3 tonnes of electrical items just from the electrical banks, waste that could have otherwise ended up in landfill. By bringing items to recycling sites they can be disposed of safely and put to good use.  Remember Bring it, Don’t bin it!
