## Whitemoss Community Fund

### Fund Overview

The Whitemoss Community Fund provides grants ranging between £5,000 and £75,000 for both community and environmental projects that are situated within a ten mile radius of Veolia’s [Whitemoss Landfill Site](/speciality-brands/whitemoss "Whitemoss Landfill") in Skelmersdale. The fund is part of the Landfill Communities Fund and is now administered by the [Veolia Environmental Trust](https://www.veoliatrust.org/ "Veolia Environmental Trust").



 

 

 



 

 

 

 





The Whitemoss Community Fund awards grants to projects that improve community facilities and the natural environment. When considering your application, our Trustees will want to see that your project:

- Promotes community action and wellbeing
- Is inclusive and accessible to everyone and anyone to use
- Inspires the creation of a sustainable carbon-neutral community space
- Protects and enhances biodiversity and natural habitats

## Whitemoss Community Fund Grants Scheme

**Our Whitemoss Community Grant Scheme is available to constituted not-for-profit organisations, local authorities and Environmental Bodies (EBs). Grants of between £5,000 and £75,000 are available to create or improve buildings or outside spaces for the benefit of the community.**

## Habitat and Biodiversity Grants Scheme

**We fund improvements to, or the creation of, natural habitats and our vision is for a healthy environment where native species can thrive.**

**This scheme is available to constituted not-for-profit organisations, Local Authorities and Environmental Bodies (EBs). The minimum grant request we can consider is £10,000.**

### Application Guidance

This includes information on [when to apply](https://www.veoliatrust.org/when-to-apply/) as well as helpful information on the application process. You can submit your completed application anytime from when the funding round opens to 12:00 midday on the closing date. Submit as soon as you are ready so we can review your application and let you know if you need to provide more information.

It is important that you apply at the right time, as only one grant application may be submitted per project site, in a 12 month period.

####  At the time you apply:

- Physical works **must not** have started.
- All permissions **must have been granted**. Planning permission must be approved
- You should have completed a community consultation exercise; finalised your project design/plan; have estimated costs and provisional timescales and; have secured other funding necessary for your project to go ahead.
- You should have secured the [**10% Contributing Third Party**](https://www.veoliatrust.org/funding-guidance/contributing-third-party-ctp/) payment and be able to upload evidence of this within the application form.
- You may start a tender process before applying however you **must not** have appointed a contractor or started the work on site. This information is required to be available within two months of a conditional funding offer being awarded.
- If your organisation is an Environmental Body (EB), you must have already registered your project with ENTRUST. A registered EB is an organisation who is enrolled with our regulator [ENTRUST](https://www.entrust.org.uk/environmental-bodies/).
- Your organisation does not need to be an EB to receive a grant from us.
